Google AdSense is a way to monetize your content and the traffic that comes to your web site.
It is simply adding some code to your web pages that then shows Google Adverts. If a visitor clicks on an advert, you get paid.
It is very easy to implement and with a little tweaking can really generate some very good results.
You place code in places on your web site where you want the advertising to appear.
Without going into too much depth, advertisers who target the publishing network with words and content that match your web site will match and ads will appear.
There are 2 basic types of advert.. PPC and Display.
- PPC = Pay Per Click. You get paid a share of the advertisers’ payment to Google if a visitor on your web site CLICKS on the advert and visits the advertisers’ web site.
- CPC = Banner ads where you get paid a share of the advertisers’ payment to Google for showing the banner.
Google advertising is aimed squarely at the advertiser (not you the publisher), and so it should be. The advertiser is the one paying for the advertising. Google ensures the advertiser is protected by incorporating click fraud, false clicking, spot-on targetting of ads relevant to the content.
Google Adsense is not for everyone. Just because you have a web site, it does not mean you should publish Google ads.
For example, if your web site advertisers one of your products or services then its generally a bad idea to have Google Advertising. It is hard enough generating traffic to your web site, without having a potential customer arrive at your web site, see an advert, click on it and leave. Sure, you may be paid for the PPC, but compare that to what you could have earned from selling your product or service.
The best web site for GA are non-business content web sites.
